History
of Lampang horse carriage
dated back around 85 years
ago (during King Rama V
period). At that time the
first horse carriage was
bought from Bangkok. Later
on
when motor cars became
more popular the horse carriages
were moved to Lampang and
other provinces. Surprisingly
only Lampang has retained
this charming services. At
present there are about
70 horse carriages serving
tourists during the day
and night. The above picture
shows horse carriages queing
in front of Lampang Wiangthong
hotel. This is very
popular for tourists to
ride around the town, especially
during night time. The fee
is 150 - 250 baht depending
on what they call small
round or big round trip.
